Founded in 2007 by Jean Bernard MEMET, A-CORROS is a consulting firm specialised in corrosion expertise and corrosion prevention<\/strong> for all types of metal heritage \u2013 including industrial heritage \u2013 and in all environments \u2013 air, land, sea, and harbours. Joined in 2008 by co-owner Philippe de VIVI\u00c9S, conservator-restorer of cultural heritage, A-CORROS quickly diversified by opening a conservation-restoration laboratory for archaeological artefacts<\/a>, historical objects<\/a> and statuary<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three main sectors of activity:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Industrial Division<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Addresses corrosion problematics related to industrial facilities<\/a>, petrochemicals, energy production, waste management, telecommunications networks, port<\/a> and naval infrastructures<\/a>, housing and civil engineering<\/a> (plumbing, roofing), as well as engineering structures<\/a> (such as metal bridges, ARMCO viaducts and retaining walls).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The missions entrusted to A-CORROS involve studying\nand understanding existing corrosion phenomena, as well as implementation of\nrecommendations or conservation measures to ensure greater durability of the\nstructures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cultural Heritage Division\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Specialises in the conservation-restoration of\nmetal cultural heritage. Restoring a metallic object implies re-discovering its\noriginal surface to reveal all the archaeological information. To do this, it\nis necessary to precisely understand the corrosion mechanisms that led to the material\u2019s\ncurrent state, as well as the types of corrosion present (stable or active corrosion\nproducts) that can eventually lead to the loss of the object. The cultural\nheritage division works on archaeological, historical, and ethnographic\ncollections, as well as works of contemporary art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Historical Monuments Division<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Very old metallic structures have specific\nmaintenance requirements and sometimes need to be adapted to accommodate their\ncurrent functions. By combining the expertise of our other divisions, we assist\nclients by examining a structure\u2019s current condition, analysing the constitutive\nmaterials and their protective coatings, and subsequently determining the\nappropriate restoration protocols.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Location<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Since 2015, A-CORROS has been located on the premises of the technology platform ARCHEOMED<\/a>, a business hub devoted to cultural heritage and creative and cultural industries based in Arles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
